There’s a large population of people who believe they don’t have the option to go to college or pursue their dreams. Access to Achievement changes that.
The Access to Achievement initiative at Johnston Community College is designed to enhance educational and vocational opportunities for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our goal is to provide personalized support that empowers students to thrive and achieve success throughout their journey at JCC.

Access to Achievement aims to provide guidance with:

Enrolling at JCC
Identifying the appropriate academic pathway
Communicating with instructors
Referring to Accessibility Services for classroom accommodations
Connecting with resources
Developing a person-centered plan
Conducting check-ins with students
Extending personal invitations to campus events, opportunities, and activities
Supporting employment through the Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities program
